Taurus demon (Dark Souls)

Overview

The Taurus Demon drops into the Undead Burg's elevated walkway, forcing an early confrontation in a space where strong blows can send the traveller over an edge. The nearby tower offers a plunging-attack opportunity, but lingering above is not complete safety: the demon can jump up after the player. An approach using the Master Key can bypass this boss, so its frequent early position should not become an absolute rule about every playthrough. Lesser Taurus demons later appear in the Demon Ruins, placing the prominent boss within a broader monster type.

Its Demon's Greataxe is described as made from the bones of other demons. The weapon has no inherent special power; weight and the wielder's strength explain its destructive role. That detail is evidence of material use, not proof of a named ancestor, a specific killing ritual or a relationship to the bull-headed beings of another tradition. The independently inspected Remastered walkthrough documents the tower opening and plunging attack in the preserved encounter. Those tactical affordances explain the boss's teaching function while leaving the species' reproduction, society and origin beyond the available item evidence.

First appearances & development

This profile selects Dark Souls in 2011 and the preserved encounter documented for the 2018 remaster. Boss and lesser Demon Ruins forms are grouped, with different placement retained. The taurine title does not establish identity with a traditional Minotaur or a demon from another franchise.
