Overview
Siege Beasts are enormous infernal animals pressed into Baal's assault on Mount Arreat. His metalworkers equip them with plated armor and riding harnesses, turning their bulk into a mobile platform for Demon Imps. Blizzard's description questions whether the passengers actually control the beasts, suggesting instead that they exploit the height while the creature remains unaware of its rider. That uncertainty distinguishes a weaponized animal from a obediently commanded mount.
Their attacks include charging, close-range blows and a ground-shaking stomp; Imps can use the basket to attack with Inferno. Siege Beasts, Crush Beasts and Blood Bringers remain together as one family. Lord of Destruction introduces this Act V treatment, while Resurrected supplies its renewed presentation. Exact damage and passenger interactions belong to those games, and the profile does not assign battlefield armor as a natural part of the species' anatomy.
First appearances & development
Introduced in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction (2001). This entry follows the version represented by the primary works listed below, rather than treating the name as a single creature shared by every adaptation. This profile follows Diablo II and its named expansion or remaster, not every later Diablo game. Difficulty, variants and patches change attacks and resistances.
Canon & continuity
Blizzard's individual Arreat Summit monster page supports this creature family's lore, named variants and selected behavior. Diablo II: Lord of Destruction supplies the original encounter, and Diablo II: Resurrected supplies the later visual treatment. The guide itself warns that its comparison statistics may differ from actual gameplay; numerical tables are not treated here as permanent lore.
