Overview

Scourge are small flying Zerg organisms whose original-game attack ends in an explosive collision with an aerial target. They emerge in pairs from a larva, allowing the Swarm to produce groups rapidly. Unlike Mutalisks, they do not survive to exchange repeated volleys, and they cannot turn their principal attack against ordinary ground forces. Their fragility makes an approach through concentrated defensive fire particularly hazardous.

Blizzard's guide describes their value alongside larger Zerg fliers, which can draw attention while Scourge approach vulnerable aircraft. The creature turns the Swarm's expendable biological warfare into a visible individual action, rather than simply representing another gun platform. This entry uses original StarCraft and its Remastered treatment; damage values and the number required against particular aircraft belong to those rules. Later campaign appearances do not establish a universal Scourge presence in every multiplayer roster.
