Overview

Breath of the Wild presents Satori as the Lord of the Mountain, a guardian spirit encountered among Blupees on a glowing Satori Mountain. Its Compendium records a legend that it is a dead sage’s reincarnation; that account remains explicitly legendary. The creature is skittish around people. Link can approach stealthily and ride it, but stable staff refuse registration, and it soon disappears after being left.

In Tears of the Kingdom, fruit offered beneath a cherry-blossom tree summons Satori, which illuminates cave locations with pillars of light. Characters sometimes speak of Satori in the plural, but the reference does not resolve whether sightings establish multiple individuals. Koltin’s ambition to become one is his belief rather than a settled account of species transformation. The spirit’s role changes from a rare mountain encounter to a guide toward concealed places.

First appearances & development

The Lord of the Mountain entered the series in Breath of the Wild in 2017; Satori continued in Tears of the Kingdom in 2023. This is the particular Zelda spirit, not a blanket description of a traditional Japanese being with the same name. Its titles and changed exploration role remain linked within one profile.

Canon & continuity

The Zelda Wiki page reproduces the original Compendium legend and records riding, stable refusal and the later fruit-offering event. Its cited dialogue also makes the singular/plural ambiguity visible. Those are Reference-mediated witnesses; this account does not claim fresh developer confirmation of an Iwata tribute or turn character rumours into certain genealogy.
