Overview
Bubbulfrogs hide in Tears of the Kingdom’s caves. A pale blue body and yellow projections give them a visual connection with other luminous creatures, but resemblance alone does not establish a family tree. When threatened they produce bubbles. Defeating one makes it fade away, leaving a Bubbul Gem while a Blupee flees. The encounter combines a secluded creature, a visible transformation-like event and a material reward.
Collecting the gem has a lasting exploration effect: it completes the cave’s Bubbulfrog objective. A frog can return if the gem is left behind, but does not simply respawn after collection. That is an observed game rule, not proof of ordinary reproduction or a claim that every Blupee is a young Bubbulfrog. The cave marker gives the encounter a navigational role alongside its connection with Koltin’s interest in gems.
First appearances & development
Bubbulfrogs were introduced in Tears of the Kingdom in 2023. They belong to its cave-exploration system rather than the earlier game’s ordinary wildlife catalogue. This profile covers the cave creature and its gem/Blupee event, while leaving uncertain biological relationships unresolved instead of turning shared colours or names into documented ancestry.
Canon & continuity
The specialist Zelda Wiki account supplies appearance, cave behaviour and gem-collection consequences. Its description of a released Blupee supports an encounter connection, but not an independently demonstrated parent–offspring relationship. The game is the primary work named below; details here are accessed through the reference rather than a newly inspected Nintendo script.
