Overview

Blupees resemble small blue rabbits, with an owl-like face and golden head projections. Breath of the Wild associates them with rupees: they can scatter money when hit, then flee or disappear in light rather than behave like an ordinary hunted animal. Their origins remain mysterious within the Compendium account. Several gather near the Lord of the Mountain, connecting an otherwise brief wildlife encounter with Satori Mountain’s rarer event.

Tears of the Kingdom gives them another exploration role. A Blupee near a cave may run toward its entrance, and one also escapes after a Bubbulfrog is defeated. Those interactions make its motion worth following without proving that the two creatures are ordinary life stages of one species. Photographing a Blupee is also an earlier quest objective. The game can thus reward observing the creature as well as striking it.

First appearances & development

Blupees debuted in Breath of the Wild in 2017 and returned in Tears of the Kingdom in 2023. The first game supplies the Compendium and photography encounter; the second adds cave-related behaviour. This profile preserves that sequence instead of assigning all later appearances to the original game or inventing a fully known reproductive cycle.

Canon & continuity

The Zelda Wiki article reproduces the Compendium account and documents the mountain gathering, photography quest and later cave interactions. These are Reference-mediated game witnesses. Character speculation about where rupees originate is not treated as omniscient biological fact, and no creator attribution is inferred from the creature’s resemblance to an owl or rabbit.
