Overview

Pride demons are powerful spirits or demons associated with pride within Dragon Age's Fade cosmology. Origins portrays imposing embodied opponents as well as manipulation and possession, particularly in the Circle's crisis. The creature codex stresses intelligence and warns that magical defenses and disabling attacks can make a direct confrontation hazardous even for trained templars.

Those codex warnings come from an in-world lecturer, so the account should not be mistaken for a complete objective hierarchy of all spirits. Later games explain that relationships between spirits and demons can depend on purpose, expectations and corruption, complicating a simple born-evil species model. Dragon Age II provides another selected set of encounters with changed mechanics. This profile keeps the powerful demonic category distinct from ordinary arrogant people, and from every visual or numerical implementation of a pride-themed boss.
