Overview

Nugs are small, mostly hairless animals with pointed snouts and broad ears, strongly associated with the underground environments of Thedas. The creature lore describes them as docile, nearly blind omnivores, while ordinary encounters show their place in dwarven food, trade and domestic life. Their modest scale makes them a useful contrast to the darkspawn and giant predators occupying the same subterranean world.

Origins includes nug wrangling in Orzammar and the possibility of acquiring one for Leliana, giving the animal both a practical and affectionate role. Inquisition returns nugs in several environments and elaborates their cultural presence. Larger nuggalope mounts and special figures such as the Nug King should be identified separately rather than making every nug a giant rideable beast. This account follows the common animal and treats colorful in-world dietary descriptions as fictional natural history, not real husbandry advice.
