Overview
Ironclad soldiers are connected to the Old Iron King's army and the Iron Keep. Their heavy shells and large striking weapons turn narrow paths above lava into dangerous encounter spaces. Attacking from behind can provoke a backward fall that crushes an unwary opponent, while the enclosing armour prevents an ordinary backstab. This is a recognizable defensive behaviour, not proof that the creature cannot be injured through any attack.
The armour descriptions identify minions given life through an enchantment of souls. They also describe a surviving piece as an iron husk fit for someone else to wear, which complicates identifying every later armoured figure with an unchanged original construct. The specialist enemy account records uncertainty about revived or newly made war golems and the identity beneath silent masks. Those interpretations should remain uncertain. Steamforged's licensed treatment emphasizes the Old Iron King's animated iron army for its tabletop miniature. The shared label consequently covers a specific game enemy and historical creation account without establishing that every suit now encountered contains the same soul or a visible biological occupant.
First appearances & development
The selected Iron Keep enemy and equipment descriptions belong to Dark Souls II in 2014. A licensed 2022 roleplaying miniature supplies a later representation. The original soul enchantment, surviving wearable husk and uncertain identity of later soldiers are separated, rather than treating armour shape as complete proof of continuity.
Canon & continuity
The enemy reference was inspected for location, backward-fall behaviour and cited guide uncertainty. Its equipment link was followed and the actual displayed item descriptions read; those support Old Iron King animation and the wearable-husk distinction. The licensed publisher article reinforces the historical army account. No definitive answer to the later occupants' identity is invented.
