Overview

The Gaping Dragon is a named boss in the Depths, with an enormous toothed opening dominating its torso. The small head above that mouth initially disguises how vast the creature will become when it rises into view. Its body combines a dragon's tail and wings with numerous limbs and a form that makes appetite a visible horror.

The battle uses charges, body movement and attacks that exploit the creature's size, while severing its tail can yield a particular weapon. Reference accounts connect its transformation with hunger, but a full biography or precise transformation process is not supplied here. Its dragon identity belongs within Dark Souls' own history, rather than establishing rules for dragons in other settings. Version-specific health, drops and combat strategies are separate from the creature's distinctive anatomy and narrative presentation.
