Overview
Broodmothers are monstrous figures involved in the production of darkspawn, introduced through the Deep Roads story in Origins. Their immense, largely stationary bodies and tentacles create a very different encounter from mobile hurlocks or genlocks. The discovery also changes the player's understanding of the horde by linking its reproduction to the horrific corruption of captives.
Origins communicates the transformation through Hespith's account and the creature codex, making victimization part of the monster's history rather than depicting it as an ordinary willing parent. Awakening develops a distinct named figure, the Mother, whose awareness and conflict with the Architect complicate the general description. This profile keeps that individual separate from the whole category and avoids treating an early codex's limited knowledge as a complete explanation of all Blight biology. The details are described without reproducing graphic passages or dialogue.
