Overview

An Ulcerated Tree Spirit is a huge, twisting creature with bark-like skin and conspicuous red growths. Its long body, claws and tail make it difficult to read during close combat, particularly in enclosed spaces. Bursts of golden energy and sudden changes of direction distinguish it from the slower, staff-bearing Erdtree Avatars encountered elsewhere.

Several encounters share this design, while putrid versions introduce a separate Scarlet Rot threat. Roots and tree imagery place the creature within the game's larger visual world, but do not prove any one community explanation of its origin. Claims that it is a tumor, a transformed collection of corpses or an identical kind of being to the Elden Beast require more evidence than visual resemblance. This entry stays with the released creature's appearance and attacks rather than settling those speculative histories.
