CIP locates Truku communities mainly in Hualien and dates separate recognition to 2004. Older labels overlap with Sediq.

Its history records Japanese-era land expropriation, forced relocation and prohibition of facial tattooing.

Selected traditions include tminun weaving, tatuk xylophones and gaya ancestral norms for ethics and cooperation.
