Overview

Thrall present the lowest and most expendable level of the Hive battlefield hierarchy. The original enemy card emphasizes twisted bodies, rage and swarming attacks. Their nearly skeletal appearance and lack of obvious eyes give them a different silhouette from the armed Acolytes behind them. Encounter descriptions distinguish their reliance on rushing and claw strikes from the ranged fire of other Hive troops. A single Thrall may be readily defeated, yet several arriving together force a Guardian to manage distance and attention while more durable enemies continue shooting.

The Taken King adds a transformation account addressed directly to a Taken Thrall. It identifies the creature’s ordinary task as closing with an enemy in overwhelming numbers, then promises an elusive new shape to overcome frailty and predictability. The card’s language of moving sideways belongs to that Taking narrative; it is not a power attributed to every ordinary Thrall. Destinypedia also describes a developmental place within Hive biology, with surviving Thrall able to become Acolytes. This profile keeps that reference-mediated account separate from the directly inspected enemy and Taking texts, and does not promote the reference’s speculative reproductive commentary into established biology.

First appearances & development

Ordinary Thrall appear in Destiny (2014); the inspected Taken form’s narrative belongs to The Taken King (2015). They also recur in Destiny 2. The entry covers a Hive creature type and its selected supernatural transformation, rather than collecting every difficulty label or treating each label as a separate species.

Canon & continuity

The original Thrall card and The Taken: Thrall are directly inspected Bungie texts archived by Ishtar Collective. Destinypedia supplies appearance, encounter behavior and the referenced developmental account. Its uncited speculation about sterile females is excluded. The Taking text’s second-person promises describe that altered form and do not establish universal ordinary-Thrall abilities.
