Overview
Ogres emerge from Hive tunnels as living instruments of destruction, carrying an enlarged, distorted body rather than the equipment of an ordinary infantry unit. The original Grimoire describes their growth rituals as apocryphal accounts of painful transformations, keeping the observer’s certainty limited. A separate card for Telthor, Unborn provides a more specific hierarchy: Ogres awaiting a summoning are called Unborn, while those chosen for an agonizing rite become Reborn. Telthor guards the Chamber of Night, kept hungry and restrained until an intruder threatens the chamber. His captivity makes the creature part of an organized defensive system, rather than a wandering natural predator.
In game encounters, Ogres can project a sustained barrage of Void energy from their heads and smash the ground when enemies approach. The combination makes both exposure at range and crowding their feet dangerous. Destinypedia’s encounter account also describes injured Ogres charging their targets in a berserk state; this is a gameplay description, not an assertion that every fictional Ogre follows an identical psychological cycle. Named bosses and ritual victims give the type several narrative uses beyond a generic heavy enemy. These accounts concern Bungie’s Hive creatures, whose origin and powers differ from ogres in European tales or other fantasy settings.
First appearances & development
Ogres appear in Destiny (2014), with subsequent appearances in Destiny 2 (2017). The Grimoire archive’s May 2015 ingestion date is not treated as the creature’s debut. This profile combines the original enemy card and Telthor’s individual account with reference-mediated descriptions of encounters; named bosses are examples within the type, not additional species.
Canon & continuity
The inspected Ogre and Telthor cards are Bungie game texts transcribed by Ishtar Collective. Destinypedia supplies the detailed attack descriptions and later-game bibliography. The original general card’s uncertainty about transformation lore is retained, while Telthor’s particular confinement and Unborn/Reborn distinction are attributed to his separate text.
