Overview

Morpheus sends SG-1 to a world connected with its search for Merlin's weapon, but the team encounters a village whose people have died. The danger persists in organisms associated with a cave and soil rather than in a visible armed enemy. Once infected, the visitors struggle to remain awake while investigators seek the cause. The episode describes the parasites as encouraging increased melatonin production and using that altered host state for nourishment.

A surviving lizard becomes an important clue because it shows that the surrounding environment is not uniformly lethal to all animal life. Studying its resistance helps the medical team develop a treatment for the humans. The creature story moves from an inherited explanation of a curse to a testable in-world biological account. This profile does not turn that fictional account into medical advice, and it does not invent a separate named lizard species from the one resistant animal observed.

First appearances & development

The sleeper parasite appears in Morpheus, written by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie for SG-1's 2006 tenth season. Its connection with Morgan le Fay is an explanation entertained within the story, not a confirmed statement that a folkloric figure biologically engineered it. The bounded entry concerns the organisms identified by the investigation.

Canon & continuity

The inspected episode record and creature index identify the sleeping sickness, cave exposure and resistant lizard. They support the parasite's role and the treatment investigation without supplying a formal species name or complete ecological history. Only one substantive primary parasite episode was identified, and no later licensed fiction is silently incorporated.
