Overview

Screebs crawl on six limbs and leap toward targets, their overloaded bodies detonating when destroyed or driven into an attack. The reference connects their instability to repeated Dark Ether resurrection and degeneration of ordinary coordination. It attributes that explanation to a Steve Cotton interview, accessed here through its citation rather than a separately inspected complete recording.

A swarm creates more than one approaching explosion: destroying a Screeb can cause a chain reaction nearby. Corner and wall approaches make distance important in encounters. Their rushing role contrasts with the heavier Abomination’s ranged attacks. Smaller or differently titled examples remain within this recurring Scorn type rather than becoming additional species. The account distinguishes observable combat behavior from the reference’s explanation of how the bodies reached that state.

First appearances & development

Screebs first appear in Destiny 2: Forsaken (2018) and recur in later content including The Witch Queen (2022). The selected bibliography identifies those game contexts through the reference’s appearance list. The 2018 creator explanation is reference-mediated here; no claim is made to have inspected the complete Game Informer video itself.

Canon & continuity

Destinypedia’s inspected Screeb article supports repeated reanimation, Dark Ether instability, crawling and chain detonations. It also identifies its Steve Cotton interview citation, whose content is not mislabeled as a fresh primary-source reading. The article’s tactical quirks and exact current explosion values are outside this bounded account.
