Overview
The official glossary gives the urRu wrinkled saurian features, long tails, patterned skin and two functional arm pairs. The original film associates them with quiet movement, chant, craft and the care of Jen, whose education prepares him for the task of restoring the Crystal. Their physical and social presentation differs sharply from the richly clothed court rulers, but the difference exists within a shared origin.
Each Mystic remains linked to a particular Skeksis, and the consequences of injury or death demonstrate that the separation is incomplete. Later stories include wanderers and an Archer rather than confining every urRu to the same valley or profession. The original movie's slow collective journey matters because it brings the halves back together at the crucial moment. The word Mystic here is a franchise name, not an entry for real religious practitioners or a universal fantasy species of spellcasters.
First appearances & development
The 1982 film establishes the Mystics and their relationship with Jen and the Skeksis. Companion mythology uses the name urRu, and the 2019 prequel expands the activities of particular members before the film. Those individual occupations are not separately counted as biological forms or universal powers of the whole group.
Canon & continuity
The inspected official U glossary supports their body structure and alternate name. The independent UrRu entry supplies source-indexed history and the counterpart bond, while official production material documents a separate performance history. Narrative qualities and performer crouching are kept distinct; the latter is not an anatomical explanation of the fictional beings.
