Overview

Magma wyrms have broad heads, heavy bodies and vestigial wings, and carry great curved blades while moving close to the ground. The Scalesword description reports that these land-bound dragons were human heroes who practised Dragon Communion and were condemned to crawl. Its wording is a reported tradition, and a named exception complicates a blanket human-origin claim: Theodorix's incantation remembers an ancient troll warrior and hero of the War against the Giants. The shared monstrous form therefore does not erase each individual's earlier identity.

Makar occupies the Ruin-Strewn Precipice route between Liurnia and Altus Plateau, while other examples inhabit Gael Tunnel, Mount Gelmir and Volcano Manor. Their magma changes the usable ground during combat, and Makar's later phase coats the sword in flame; the Gael Tunnel encounter remains in an unignited state. The blade resembles a dragon's jaw rather than being documented as the removed jaw of a specific parent. A further wyrm in Shadow of the Erdtree's Dragon's Pit is a separate placement, not a new species or an automatic extension of every base-game phase. Named wyrms and their corresponding Communion spells remain grouped without flattening their different histories.

First appearances & development

The selected monster type appears in Elden Ring in 2022, with a further documented Dragon's Pit encounter in the 2024 expansion. Named Makar and Theodorix are treated as examples within the type. Their stories should not be exchanged merely because both supply hearts and draconic powers.

Canon & continuity

The actual specialist creature and Scalesword passages were read, including the item text's qualified former-human account. The separately inspected Theodorix's Magma description establishes the troll warrior. An indexed expansion walkthrough supplies the Dragon's Pit placement. No complete game or unseen official strategy-book chapter is represented as freshly read.
