Overview

Lagombi is a white-furred, long-eared fanged beast adapted to cold conditions through a warm coat and substantial body fat. Although mainly herbivorous, it sometimes eats meat, using acute hearing and quiet movement across snow to find prey. Its characteristic belly-sliding locomotion is therefore both an ecological adaptation and a combat feature, letting a bulky animal cover ground faster than its posture might suggest.

Portable 3rd and Now provide selected game treatments of the species. The mobile guide describes sliding rushes and thrown snow that creates areas where evasive movement becomes difficult. Those encounter rules should remain separate from a complete account of its feeding or seasonal behavior. This profile treats the rabbit-like ears and bear-like bulk as visible features, without claiming a specific designer inspiration. Variant attacks and appearances in later games are not an exhaustive biological history.

First appearances & development

Introduced in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (2010, Japan). This entry follows the version represented by the primary works listed below, rather than treating the name as a single creature shared by every adaptation. Game Hunter's Notes and encounters are the baseline; subspecies, variants, spin-offs and numerical mechanics require title attribution.

Canon & continuity

The exact official Monster Hunter Now creature profile directly supports the selected ecology, visible anatomy and mobile encounter behavior. Monster Hunter Portable 3rd provides the other named primary game treatment. Now is an evolving game first released in 2023; this date does not assert that the species appeared at launch. Numerical balance and later variants are not fully surveyed.

European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), representative rabbit comparison

Capcom's Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate spotlight repeatedly describes Lagombi as a rabbit-like beast while explaining its fictional sliding attacks. A European-rabbit account supplies a real reference for the animal motif. This comparison does not identify a designer's particular model, equate Lagombi with a rabbit species, or treat its belly-sliding and ice-themed equipment as real rabbit traits.
