Kryten (Red Dwarf)

Overview

A service mechanoid from the crashed Nova V, Kryten continued caring for dead survivors without recognising their deaths. Rimmer’s exploitation provoked rebellion; after fleeing on Lister’s space bike and crashing, he was rebuilt with an altered personality. Lister subsequently encouraged lying and insults, testing the constraints of his programming.

The costume retrospective distinguishes his early artificial butler’s tuxedo from the segmented android body introduced later. The selected photograph shows an angular flesh-coloured head, metallic black-and-silver body, ringed joints and circular abdominal monitor.
