Ixal (Final Fantasy)

Overview

The Ixal are feathered people of the Xelphatol mountains. Square Enix’s A Realm Reborn introduction says they have lost the ability to fly, leaving vestigial wings, while retaining pride in their heritage. Their avian identity therefore does not imply that contemporary individuals can take flight.

The same publicity describes groups entering the Black Shroud to cut trees for offerings to Garuda. Those incursions bring them into conflict with Gridania. This records a particular hostile relationship and religious practice; it does not justify treating every Ixal settlement or individual in the game as an enemy.

The account offers no verified cause for the loss of flight or real-world design influence. Those remain gaps. The unofficial image shows a feathered humanoid with small wing-like arm plumage in an imagined mountain scene. It avoids adding a second pair of functional wings or claiming the landscape as a reproduced game location.
