Overview
Great Jagras is a large Fanged Wyvern associated with packs of smaller Jagras in Monster Hunter: World. Its yellow-green body, mane and capacious abdomen distinguish it from those followers. It can swallow prey whole, leaving its belly visibly distended, and the changed body shape affects its rolling and sweeping attacks during subsequent confrontations.
Feeding is central to the creature's introduction: carrying and regurgitating food links the large individual with the surrounding pack. This behavior makes a relatively early monster useful for showing how World's animals act between hunts. Iceborne returns the species in expanded quest contexts, while special event versions alter size or rewards without necessarily establishing a separate lineage. The entry therefore treats Great Jagras as a recognizable monster type and pack leader, not as an all-purpose name for every reptilian predator.
First appearances & development
Monster Hunter: World (2018). This entry follows the version represented by the primary works listed below, rather than treating the name as a single creature shared by every adaptation. Game Hunter's Notes and encounters are the baseline; subspecies, variants, spin-offs and numerical mechanics require title attribution.
Canon & continuity
The bibliography identifies Monster Hunter: World as a primary basis and Monster Hunter World: Iceborne as a second useful treatment. The linked secondary reference supports identification and contextual claims; it does not substitute for consulting the named edition, episode or game. Game Hunter's Notes and encounters are the baseline; subspecies, variants, spin-offs and numerical mechanics require title attribution.
