Overview

The broad fan-shaped head gives a Goblin an immediately recognizable outline, but the original Grimoire warns that shattering it does not cause lasting defeat. Instead, the frame can become electrically agitated and more aggressive. Destinypedia’s encounter account locates the practical vulnerable point lower in the body, in the exposed abdominal core. Normal Goblins advance and fire in numbers, diverting attention while heavier Vex operate behind them. Their short-distance teleportation and defensive bending posture complicate an opponent’s attempt to line up that lower target.

The Taken: Goblin card adds a primary account of a purpose broader than combat. It describes the ordinary frame as an armature for building a material environment capable of thought, with threat elimination serving that construction. Taking then repurposes the same talent under a different controlling logic. This distinction matters: a Goblin is not merely a gun attached to legs, but a working form within Vex activity. Nor is it a small folkloric humanoid with its own village culture. The entry treats the original frame and its narrated transformation together while preserving the separate circumstances of each.

First appearances & development

The ordinary Goblin appears in Destiny (2014), while The Taken King (2015) supplies the inspected transformation text. It recurs in Destiny 2, but later labels are not catalogued here as new species. The 2015 date displayed beside the original archived card is an ingestion record rather than the original-game debut.

Canon & continuity

The original Goblin and The Taken: Goblin cards are inspected Bungie game texts preserved by Ishtar Collective. Destinypedia supports the abdominal target, posture and encounter behavior. The building purpose is attributed to the Taking card’s description of the ordinary frame; it is not an invented explanation derived solely from its mechanical appearance.
