Overview
Ghiozzo are fish made aggressively carnivorous by T-Abyss infection. Capcom connects their appearance to deep-sea fish carrying the precursor Abyss Virus, while describing enhanced appetite, sharp fangs and powerful jaws. That resemblance is not a statement that every Ghiozzo began as the same deep-sea species. A group can overwhelm much larger prey, and the animals do not become harmless immediately upon leaving water. They can jump at creatures beside the water’s edge or snap while wriggling on land, preserving danger after the apparent environmental advantage changes.
The Revelations guide identifies the Queen Zenobia casino fountain’s goldfish as a concrete transformation case. After power is restored and the fountain button pressed, the ornamental fish mutate; other Ghiozzo appear in bilge water and passages during later episodes. This encounter turns a decorative ship fixture into an immediate hazard without requiring a giant predator’s arena. The guide describes fast movement and leaping tooth attacks, consistent with the official warning to keep away from stranded fish or shoot from distance. Its piranha comparison describes the resulting look; Capcom’s cinematic-piranha analogy is not used here as a claim about real fish attacking mammals.
First appearances & development
Resident Evil Revelations (2012) introduces Ghiozzo within its aquatic infection setting. The publisher’s precursor-virus resemblance and the guide’s casino goldfish case are compatible descriptions of appearance and a particular host example. Neither supplies an exhaustive catalogue of every fish species susceptible to the fictional virus.
Canon & continuity
The official dossier supports appetite, jaws, school attacks and dangerous out-of-water movement. The inspected individual guide corroborates rapid leaping attacks and records the fountain transformation and bilge encounters. Concrete game cases are retained without claiming the entire fish type must originate from decorative goldfish or a named deep-sea taxon.
