Overview

Devantaka is among Ravana’s sons who go out to battle after Kumbhakarna’s fall. In the next canto, anger at Narantaka’s death brings him against Angada with a raised club; Trisiras and Mahodara join the attack.

His club turns aside the rocks and trees Angada throws. When Hanuman and Nila arrive to relieve the outnumbered vanara, Devantaka raises his mace against Hanuman. Hanuman strikes him on the head and kills him. The short episode gives him a specific weapon and place in the coordinated attack without assigning additional magical abilities.
