Overview

A Brute is a heavy Reaper combat organism assembled from krogan and turian victims. Its oversized arm and armoured mass give it a markedly different silhouette from a human husk, while its attacks force opponents to account for sudden charges and crushing blows. The combination is a technological amalgamation, not a naturally born hybrid population. Its construction extends the invasion's violence from killing people to repurposing their bodies and physical capabilities.

The Mass Effect 3 codex explains that the components originate in organisms with incompatible biochemistry and require implants to function together. That explanation belongs to the setting's invented biology and conversion technology. On battlefields such as Menae, Brutes operate as pressure units that threaten cover and personal space while other troops attack around them. Their exact durability depends on combat settings and edition, so a damage table would not serve as a reliable anatomical description. The game's encounters and in-game Reaper account jointly establish their composition and role.

First appearances & development

Brutes are a Mass Effect 3 enemy documented in its 2012 Reaper codex. Their mixed composition results from hostile conversion and assembly rather than natural reproduction between two civilizations. The entry stays within that game's account and combat appearances, with its second work being the same game's explanatory codex rather than a false earlier debut.

Canon & continuity

The 2012 Reaper codex supplies the unusual krogan-turian composition and the implanted response to biochemical incompatibility. The linked Brute reference documents battle appearances and attack patterns. Both describe a forced composite condition, supporting creature priority 2 despite the victims' membership in sapient peoples; exact difficulty-dependent armour and damage numbers are omitted.
