Overview

Krogan are robust reptilian peoples from Tuchanka. Their shoulder humps store resources, and redundant organs contribute to their survival. Tuchanka’s hostile environment was compounded by nuclear warfare. Salarian intervention then brought the krogan into interstellar conflict with the rachni; victory and expansion preceded the Krogan Rebellions. The salarian-developed, turian-deployed genophage drastically reduced successful reproduction. That history makes collective punishment and interspecies responsibility central to the story, rather than treating durability as their only defining attribute.

The later Andromeda setting carries krogan clans and their disagreements into a different galaxy. EA’s archived character profile presents Nakmor Drack as a veteran of about fourteen centuries, with service as a soldier, mercenary and pirate before joining his clan’s voyage. His longevity is an individual example, not a guaranteed lifespan for all krogan. Wrex, Grunt and later leaders likewise differ in how they respond to survival and reform.

BioWare’s 2017 APEX fiction gives Drack another role: scouting for Morda, then seeking help from Kandros when patrols disappear. He assigns a female biotic gladiator from Aralakh Company to the rescue investigation. The mission illustrates clan leadership and cooperation. Drack’s particular briefing does not settle the original trilogy’s player-dependent genophage outcome.

First appearances & development

The original game provides the retained krogan setting foundation and the later trilogy develops the genophage dilemma. Andromeda’s 2017 character profile and APEX briefing add clan migration and a specific recovery mission. Those examples supplement the earlier history without imposing one universal ending or clan policy.

Canon & continuity

The inspected reference article supports the limited biology and historical sequence. EA’s German character-profile text survives in the public search index, although its direct page now returns 404. The complete accessible BioWare APEX briefing supplies Drack’s scoped mission account; the unavailable page is not claimed as live.
