Overview

Ahrimans are recurring Final Fantasy monsters whose designs commonly center on one enormous eye, a mouth and a pair of wings. The name first appears in Final Fantasy III, and later translations sometimes use names such as Veteran for related appearances. Their eye and hovering movement give them a visual identity distinct from ordinary flying animals, while status magic and dangerous spells frequently define their battles.

Final Fantasy XIV treats its ahrimans as voidsent and also provides tamed mount versions, including a Circus Ahriman described in an official seasonal-event announcement. That cosmology does not establish the origin of every similarly named monster in earlier games. Final Fantasy XII's boss called Ahriman is especially different in appearance and should be examined separately. This entry concerns the recurring winged-eye tradition and selected appearances, with spelling, translation, boss design and setting-specific origin kept visible.
