Overview
An abomination is assembled rather than born. The Warcraft III account gives it parts from several corpses, disproportionate limbs, cleavers and hooked blades; its slow movement and limited wits contrast with the force of its ground assault. Cannibalize restores health through nearby dead organic bodies, including corpses carried by a Meat Wagon. The researched Disease Cloud adds another offensive use for decay, with undead immunity explicitly part of that selected rule. These procedures make the battlefield's dead useful resources, but they do not supply a clinical model of infection or imply that every later construct uses identical mechanics.
Blizzard's Stitches account gives the type a local story role. Abercrombie creates him to terrorize Darkshire under the guise of a gift to its mayor. The related Heroes of the Storm presentation then turns that notorious monster into a playable initiator: Hook drags a target inward, Devour damages it while restoring health, and Gorge temporarily imprisons an enemy inside his stomach. These are Stitches's selected crossover abilities, not compulsory powers of every assembled body.
The Shadowlands preview places other abominations in Maldraxxus, where the House of Constructs combines selected flesh and bones from the slain into new bodies. That institution supplies another setting for constructed undeath beyond the Scourge's Azerothian army. The 2026 pre-expansion notes also retain an abomination summon in the death knight's Army of the Dead framework, with a disease-cloud role. This later player ability is dated separately rather than replacing the earlier strategy-game account.
First appearances & development
The publisher's Stitches retrospective identifies Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos in 2002 as the type's debut. The 2003 expansion, World of Warcraft, the Nexus crossover and Shadowlands develop different uses for assembled undead. This account selects those named presentations; a later summoning update is not evidence of a new biological species.
Canon & continuity
The complete classic unit guide supports assembly, corpse recovery and disease rules. Blizzard's Stitches article distinguishes his Darkshire background from crossover abilities, and its Maldraxxus preview identifies the House of Constructs. The selected 2026 update passage supplies the later summoned role. No current universal statistics or creator-inspiration claim is inferred.
