Overview

A winter lantern can damage the hunter and build frenzy while maintaining line of sight. Obstacles provide a meaningful defence, while sedatives manage the status effect. At close range it uses a running grab that can be interrupted or avoided with careful timing. The danger of approaching is therefore greater than its limited melee repertoire initially suggests. Its gaze is not a projectile that ordinary dodging reliably eliminates.

The creature occurs in the Nightmare Frontier and Nightmare of Mensis, with another placement in the expansion's Fishing Hamlet. Specialist testing reports that a Shaman Bone Blade can divert its attention, but the frenzy effect does not simply transfer to neighbouring enemies. The account concerns released encounters and visible behaviour. Development-file arrangements and visual resemblance to the Doll do not independently establish a parent, creator or biological identity.

First appearances & development

Winter lanterns belong to Bloodborne's 2015 base game, with an additional encounter location in The Old Hunters. These placements are grouped as one creature type. The selected reference provides a detailed mechanical account but no complete canonical explanation of the form's origin or its relationship to other nightmare entities.

Canon & continuity

The dedicated reference supplies line-of-sight danger, close attacks, released locations and qualified testing of the Bone Blade interaction. Its visible-behaviour account is separated from its datamining discussion. Neither linked video nor gallery pixels were inspected, so resemblance claims are not promoted into confirmed genealogy or direct designer testimony.
