Overview

Trolls are large, shaggy, apelike beasts distinguished by three eyes and powerful regeneration. Oblivion and Skyrim make that healing a practical part of encounters: an injured creature can remain dangerous unless the opponent keeps pressure on it. Fire is a notable weakness in the cited treatments, giving the fight an asymmetry that differs from merely exchanging blows with a large ordinary mammal. Caves and wooded places supply familiar habitats, but the franchise includes wider regional forms.

The profile follows Bethesda's creature rather than importing every ability of traditional trolls into its body or behavior. Frost-covered models and unusually large named individuals likewise do not establish identical size or temperament for all members. In-world guides debate aspects of their origins and biology; such uncertainty remains uncertainty rather than a gap filled with invented facts. This comparison identifies appearance, healing and habitat while keeping numerical recovery and damage rules specific to the games that implement them.

First appearances & development

Selected comparison: Oblivion (2006) and Skyrim (2011). This entry follows the version represented by the primary works listed below, rather than treating the name as a single creature shared by every adaptation. Game lore and in-world narrators can conflict; gameplay abilities and playable body forms vary by title.

Canon & continuity

UESP's public MediaWiki API supplied the citation-bearing creature article; UESP is an independent reference, not an official publisher. Released games named in the bibliography are the canonical basis. In-game books, dialogue, mechanics and unofficial writings remain distinguishable within that reference. This task does not claim a complete replay or inspection of every later expansion.
