Overview
Horkers are northern aquatic mammals with tusks and flippers that connect cold shorelines to the lives of Tamriel's inhabitants. Bloodmoon presents a smaller seal-like form on Solstheim, whereas Skyrim's familiar body is much bulkier. The lore reference identifies horker as a broader local term, so these differing designs should not automatically be forced into a single anatomically identical species. Their generally passive behavior can change when provoked or during mating season.
Skaal and other inhabitants use horkers for meat and tusks, while Bloodmoon's story gives dead animals along the coast a role in its ominous prophecy. That narrative sign is not the ordinary cause of every horker death. This profile compares the two released games and retains their bodily differences, without turning harvested ingredients into a complete real-world nutritional or population survey. Regional forms remain identifiable within the family rather than becoming duplicate entries solely for their model changes.
First appearances & development
Selected comparison: Bloodmoon (2003) and Skyrim (2011). This entry follows the version represented by the primary works listed below, rather than treating the name as a single creature shared by every adaptation. Game lore and in-world narrators can conflict; gameplay abilities and playable body forms vary by title.
Canon & continuity
UESP's public MediaWiki API supplied the citation-bearing creature article; UESP is an independent reference, not an official publisher. Released games named in the bibliography are the canonical basis. In-game books, dialogue, mechanics and unofficial writings remain distinguishable within that reference. This task does not claim a complete replay or inspection of every later expansion.
