Overview
Tolkien Gateway identifies Théodred as Théoden's son and Second Marshal. Gríma tries unsuccessfully to divide him from Éomer. Facing Saruman's invasion, he commands the Westfold and summons additional riders.
His attack across the Isen encounters a larger prepared host. Retreating to the river island, he is singled out by enemy warriors and mortally wounded. His death leaves Éomer as heir.
