Overview
In Weta Workshop’s film portrayal, Bofur sustains Thorin’s company through difficult travel with good humour. Bombur is his brother and Bifur his cousin. He is not Thorin’s relative, yet values loyalty to the quest more than its promised gold.
He welcomes Bilbo when others question the hobbit’s fitness for the journey. His teasing remains friendly rather than cruel. Bofur also takes responsibility for protecting his brother and cousin, turning the same energy that animates his jokes toward wielding a mattock in their defence.
