Overview
Sirens can lure sailors with an attractive maidenlike appearance and then reveal a much more dangerous fishlike face and claws. Their ability to move through water and air makes them a threat beyond a single shoreline, especially when a flock surrounds a boat. The third game's account includes stories about earlier relations with humans, but leaves those stories uncertain rather than verifying a complete shared history.
The contrast between alluring appearance and predatory action belongs to this franchise's hybrid monster. It should not be collapsed into every classical Siren or any friendly merperson merely because the names or tails resemble one another. Wild Hunt and its licensed guide supply the selected treatment, with practical encounters emphasizing the difference between aerial movement and ground vulnerability. More dangerous related forms are acknowledged within the family, without treating every rank or named specimen as another species.
First appearances & development
The selected version is 2015 game and licensed-guide. CD Projekt RED's games adapt Sapkowski's setting while adding their own creature designs, quest histories and combat classifications. This profile identifies those game treatments, rather than asserting that every detail originates in the novels. Spellings and named variants remain within the same account unless a substantive independent comparison is required.
Canon & continuity
The Witcher Wiki is an independent reference, and its public MediaWiki API supplied the version-labeled bestiary text and relevant quest accounts. Publisher-hosted Prima guide excerpts provide additional context where listed. The bibliography identifies the actual game or reference chapter; it does not imply a complete audit of every novel, expansion, patch, screen adaptation or full guidebook.
