Overview
Scamps are small lesser Daedra that can act as servants, errand-runners and disruptive intruders in the mortal world. Their nimble hands let them manipulate objects, distinguishing them from a purely animal-shaped Daedric attacker. Descriptions often emphasize limited intelligence and cowardice, but that characterization does not make every individual incapable of cunning or communication. Released-game examples and in-world books assign them to more than one Daedric master.
Morrowind and Oblivion use the creature in different encounters and summoning systems, so a spell's duration or an individual merchant's behavior should not become a universal species rule. The profile follows the recognizable minion form rather than surveying all Daedric political arrangements. Their supernatural origin also keeps them distinct from an ordinary imp in unrelated folklore. A named scamp with an unusual occupation can demonstrate a possibility without establishing that every member shares the same personality or profession.
First appearances & development
Selected comparison: Morrowind (2002) and Oblivion (2006). This entry follows the version represented by the primary works listed below, rather than treating the name as a single creature shared by every adaptation. Game lore and in-world narrators can conflict; gameplay abilities and playable body forms vary by title.
Canon & continuity
UESP's public MediaWiki API supplied the citation-bearing creature article; UESP is an independent reference, not an official publisher. Released games named in the bibliography are the canonical basis. In-game books, dialogue, mechanics and unofficial writings remain distinguishable within that reference. This task does not claim a complete replay or inspection of every later expansion.
