Overview
Clannfear are reptilian Daedra with muscular bipedal bodies, prominent bony crests and sharp talons. Their curved beaks and powerful close attacks give them a distinctive silhouette among the creatures summoned into Tamriel. They are often characterized as feral and relatively unsophisticated, although earlier game dialogue provides speaking examples. That contrast is retained rather than declaring every clannfear either a mindless animal or a fully documented member of one civilization.
Morrowind and Oblivion supply different models and encounter abilities without erasing the shared creature identity. Their service to Daedric powers is also broader than a mandatory allegiance to only one Prince. This profile uses the released-game monster form as its unit and keeps exact summoning rules attached to individual titles. The reptilian or birdlike appearance is descriptive; creator-design claims found within unofficial citations are not repeated as confirmed influences without inspecting their original evidence.
First appearances & development
Selected comparison: Morrowind (2002) and Oblivion (2006). This entry follows the version represented by the primary works listed below, rather than treating the name as a single creature shared by every adaptation. Game lore and in-world narrators can conflict; gameplay abilities and playable body forms vary by title.
Canon & continuity
UESP's public MediaWiki API supplied the citation-bearing creature article; UESP is an independent reference, not an official publisher. Released games named in the bibliography are the canonical basis. In-game books, dialogue, mechanics and unofficial writings remain distinguishable within that reference. This task does not claim a complete replay or inspection of every later expansion.
