Overview

The Central Mountains’ fourth sequence places a beast written 𤢺 at Mount Li, near the Yongyong River. Its body is compared with a doglike form, but it carries scales and bristles like those of a pig. The notice follows the description of Xiqu; the two are separately named beings.

The 1667 illustrated edition labels this figure 獳如. Its four-footed body combines a canine outline with conspicuous patches of scales and raised bristles. The caption repeats the river setting and mixed anatomy. The plate supplies a historical spelling and visual interpretation alongside the differently written name in the hosted text.
