Overview
Rajang is an ape-like Fanged Beast with horns, powerful arms and electrical attacks. Golden fur signals an altered combat state, making its compact form dangerous without a dragon's wingspan. Now describes extreme aggression and few surviving witnesses, while only tentatively calling its life solitary. The habitat is described as unknown; this uncertainty should survive rather than become an invented natural history.
Now distinguishes a golden-furred state with changed attacks and a subsequent rampage state with hardened limbs. Sleep or a broken tail ends either, but the tail breaks only while powered up. Horns and forelegs are also breakable; Ice is the listed weakness. Forest, Desert, Swamp, Tundra and Volcano are gameplay encounter categories, not a resolution of the page's uncertain natural habitat.
Capcom's October 10, 2019 update article places Rajang's arrival in Iceborne after its original launch. The special assignment required completing the main story, visiting the Guiding Lands and then speaking to the Admiral. These prerequisites explain its role as an additional challenge for an established hunter, rather than an opening encounter. They are historical console-update instructions; the PC release followed a different schedule.
The 2010 community survey already singled out the change from brown fur to gold and the force of its attacks. That reception predates the inspected Iceborne update and does not establish that its later two-state mechanics were identical in earlier games. The retained reference account's Kirin conflict is likewise a specific Iceborne interaction, not proof of a universal exclusive diet; Furious Rajang's additional behavior remains separate.
First appearances & development
The retained bibliography identifies Monster Hunter 2 (2006) as Rajang's introduction and Rise (2021) as a later example. Inspected publisher evidence adds its October 2019 console arrival in Iceborne and the maintained Now account. These publication and encounter stages are distinct, especially where powered states and progression requirements differ.
Canon & continuity
The complete Now ecology and combat guide was read. The complete official October 2019 update article establishes Rajang assignment prerequisites; its unrelated patch notes are not borrowed as creature lore. The 2010 survey records earlier community reception. The original-game and Kirin context remains attributed to the retained secondary guide.
