Overview
Night elves, or kaldorei, include survivors who remember the War of the Ancients and the Burning Legion’s first invasion. The official race account places them in the Alliance and presents the priestess Tyrande Whisperwind and archdruid Malfurion Stormrage as complementary leaders. Tyrande’s service to Elune, the Sentinels and Malfurion’s Cenarion Circle connections give the society several institutions rather than one profession. Darnassus’s planted spaces and bridges expressed reverence for nature; nightsabers also participated in daily culture as companions, hunters and mounts. The same guide acknowledges that the attack on Teldrassil displaced its inhabitants.
Dragonflight’s Seeds of Renewal supplies a later geographical witness. Bel’ameth stands beneath Amirdrassil on the Dragon Isles, adjacent to the Ohn’ahran Plains. Its harbor and Evenfall Watchtower connect travellers to Feathermoon Stronghold, preserving contact with another kaldorei settlement. Twilight Watchtower accommodates dark rangers, death knights, demon hunters and Shen’dralar mages, who train and socialize there. Those groups complicate any account in which every night elf follows an identical relationship to magic or death. The zone overview describes a place of recovery, not a claim that all earlier homes and communities have disappeared.
The 2023 heritage quest begins with The Clarion’s Call at the Stormwind Embassy and awards the Kaldorei Protector’s Adornment. New facial and body markings accompanied that update. These are selected game representations of heritage and self-presentation; the advertised character-level requirement is an access rule, not a fictional law of adulthood. Together the witnesses show continuity through worship, animal partnerships and remembered places, alongside changes in refuge and participation after war.
First appearances & development
Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, released in 2002, provides the early game witness used here; Blizzard’s timeline identifies the night elves’ participation at Mount Hyjal. Later World of Warcraft pages describe Fourth War displacement and Dragonflight settlement. Their fictional ancient history is distinct from the publication chronology.
Canon & continuity
The complete official race-page data, actual Bel’ameth zone overview and heritage update were inspected. The live zone text differs slightly from an earlier syndicated rendition; this account does not import the missing lodge-headquarters statement. The selected release timeline identifies the original game context without claiming a newly viewed campaign.
