Overview

The official glossary identifies nebrie as semi-aquatic creatures whose growth varies with their surroundings. Animals in ordinary woodland or plains pools remain comparatively modest, while the Swamp of Sog can support much larger forms with tusks. That ecological variation is retained within one animal profile rather than counted as several independently established species. Their unfamiliar bodies still occupy recognizable relationships with water, husbandry and food.

Podlings obtain milk from the animals and use trained fizzgigs to manage them, making the nebrie part of a domestic system rather than merely a background monster. Companion mythology also gives them cultural importance through the Podlings' totem relationship. The Skeksis' consumption of the animal creates another perspective on the same lifeform, but culinary use is not a full account of its natural diet or reproduction. The bounded profile does not infer fixed dimensions from a particular film prop.

First appearances & development

The original film's world and its illustrated companion introduce the nebrie setting in 1982. The later official glossary extends the animal's habitat-dependent appearance. This entry follows those named witnesses; it does not claim to have established an exhaustive order of every printed anatomical detail or every background screen specimen.

Canon & continuity

The inspected official N glossary gives semi-aquatic habitat, Podling milk use and the contrast between small pool forms and large tusked swamp forms. The official Pod People account independently describes domestication and its cultural place. Those sources establish ecological and domestic roles without supplying a complete breeding cycle or measurement table.
