Overview

Kwama are insectoid animals that live in underground colonies with sharply different bodily roles. A largely immobile queen produces eggs, workers tend the nest and excavate passages, and warriors defend it. Foragers range more widely in search of food or new sites. Scribs are a larval form within the same account, rather than a second unrelated species. These differences explain why encountering one kwama body does not reveal everything about the colony.

Morrowind's egg mines make the colony an economic resource as well as a possible dungeon encounter. Miners can become familiar to its inhabitants, while unfamiliar intruders risk attack, and damage to the queen has consequences beyond defeating an ordinary guard. Later ESO material extends colony behavior and associated products with its own dialogue. This profile retains the caste structure without treating fictional pheromones or egg production as real entomology, and keeps game-specific hostile behavior separate from a claim that all kwama are uniformly aggressive.

First appearances & development

Selected comparison: Morrowind (2002) and ESO (2014 onward). This entry follows the version represented by the primary works listed below, rather than treating the name as a single creature shared by every adaptation. Game lore and in-world narrators can conflict; gameplay abilities and playable body forms vary by title.

Canon & continuity

UESP's public MediaWiki API supplied the citation-bearing creature article; UESP is an independent reference, not an official publisher. Released games named in the bibliography are the canonical basis. In-game books, dialogue, mechanics and unofficial writings remain distinguishable within that reference. This task does not claim a complete replay or inspection of every later expansion.
