Kavat

Overview

The reference account places feral Kavats in Infested areas, where they feed on the material other creatures fear. Their natural invisibility makes an apparently empty contaminated room less straightforward than it looks. It also describes Grineer use of domesticated Kavats against the Infestation, with Hyekka Masters using detection equipment. These setting functions distinguish the species from an ordinary decorative cat, though the underlying hunting and companion roles remain recognizable.

Digital Extremes’ 2016 preview introduced the Adarza and Smeeta companion breeds with different abilities. Adarza supports critical attacks and can reflect damage; Smeeta uses invisibility, a distracting decoy and beneficial effects for its owner. The same announcement let biological companions remain as roaming young animals or be matured for missions. Those historical feature descriptions are not universal current numerical rules. Later material includes the Vasca form and Khora’s special Venari, but their exceptional properties are not assigned to every Kavat. The main entry retains a shared species account while keeping breed abilities and distinct companion contexts visible.

First appearances & development

Kavat companions were introduced in Warframe: Specters of the Rail (2016). Digital Extremes’ June preview is a direct contemporary record of the two initial breeds, not proof that every wild form first appeared on that preview date. The profile combines that documented companion introduction with selected reference-mediated wild and later-form descriptions.

Canon & continuity

The inspected official Specters of the Rail preview supports breed abilities and biological-companion maturation. Warframe Wiki supplies feral invisibility, feeding and Grineer handling context. Numerical 2016 buff duration is not repeated as current balance. Vulpaphyla’s use of Kavat mods is not used to collapse the two animals into one species.
