Overview

Jiralhanae are large, muscular people commonly called Brutes in Halo's battlefield vocabulary. Their growing position in the Covenant helps precipitate conflict with the Sangheili, making the species important to institutional change rather than only the introduction of a tougher enemy. Weapons and armour vary between their appearances, especially as political allegiance changes.

The Banished give later Jiralhanae characters a prominent role outside the old Covenant's religious structure. That development does not make every member a Banished loyalist or erase clan differences. This entry describes the games' historical relationships and recognizable bodies while keeping television continuity, individual leaders and particular weapon loadouts separate from a universal species profile.
