Helminth Charger

Overview

The companion reference labels the Charger an experimental combination of Kubrow and Infestation. Incubation draws on the biological companion process but adds material drained from a mature cyst carried by a Warframe. That makes it distinct both from an ordinary wild Kubrow and from the Helminth organism occupying the ship’s room. The reference describes the cyst’s growth and the separate options of draining it for incubation or removing it. These are fictional game procedures, not a claim about an actual infectious organism.

Digital Extremes’ March 2017 update records a new model and revised behavior. Proboscis pulls a target toward the Charger, while Trample replaces the older charge precept with a rushing attack through opponents. The original Charger model remains available as a cosmetic option, so an image using it may depict a historical look rather than the redesigned form. The reference also identifies later Strain mods that produce maggots and further effects; those optional equipment properties are not innate universal behavior. The creature’s development history matters because a change in visible body and attack naming can otherwise be mistaken for two unrelated species.

First appearances & development

The reference dates the companion’s undocumented introduction to Update 19.5 on December 22, 2016. The directly inspected Octavia’s Anthem Update 20 record documents its redesign on March 24, 2017. Those dates distinguish an initial implementation from an official later overhaul; the profile does not claim a separate contemporary announcement of the original hidden addition.

Canon & continuity

Warframe Wiki supplies the incubation account, Codex description and explicit undocumented-introduction label. Digital Extremes’ Update 20 directly records the reskin, Proboscis, Trample and retained old cosmetic. Numeric ranges and damage from that historical announcement are omitted rather than presented as current. The cyst-to-companion process is kept distinct from ordinary enemy Chargers.
