Overview
Harvesters are immense flying creatures encountered around Tuchanka and Tarith in Mass Effect 2. They carry or release smaller klixen into the area beneath them, combining a distant aerial presence with immediate danger on the ground. The observed association does not establish that the two animals are parents and offspring or stages in a single life cycle. The games give enough evidence for an ecological relationship, while leaving its exact nature unresolved.
Mass Effect 3 also presents Reaper-modified harvesters as battlefield transports and aerial attackers. Cybernetic weaponry and military use belong to that transformed condition, rather than proving that every wild harvester naturally possesses guns or serves the Reapers. Keeping both appearances together makes the contrast legible: an existing animal becomes material for an invading army's conversion process. The second game's wildlife encounters, third game's war scenes and corresponding codex accounts are the basis of this entry; numerical flight, armour and damage values are not treated as stable biological measurements.
First appearances & development
Harvesters have identified narrative appearances in Mass Effect 2 and Reaper-converted forms in Mass Effect 3. The wild animal and its weaponized condition are treated together to explain the transformation rather than counted as unrelated species. Earlier concept material is not itself proof that a playable harvester appeared in the original 2007 release.
Canon & continuity
Mass Effect 2 encounters and Mass Effect 3's Reaper account establish the wild and converted appearances. The species reference records transport of klixen, but its suggested reproductive relationship is not treated as settled fact. The entry consequently identifies what is observed and leaves the biological mechanism unresolved rather than filling a gap with an invented life cycle.
