Overview
Haemovores are vampiric creatures connected to a possible future in which pollution has transformed humanity's world and descendants. The Ancient One is brought into the past by Fenric, and blood-draining transformations produce further attackers associated with an old Viking curse. Their sea-borne return during the wartime story combines a distant environmental catastrophe with an apparently ancient supernatural threat.
The Ancient One's capacity to understand the Doctor's warning complicates a picture of the creatures as mindless killers. Fenric's intended poisoning would help create the ruined future from which his servant comes, and the servant ultimately turns against that plan. The profile therefore preserves both transformed human descent and individual agency. Its priority follows the depicted predatory condition, rather than pretending all possible future human societies are known through this one story.
First appearances & development
The Curse of Fenric (1989) depicts Haemovores and their possible future human origin. The selected 1989 television treatment is the narrative baseline. The second bibliography item is an official reference account, not an invented second narrative appearance. Licensed audio and prose can develop their own emphases, which are not silently merged into these scenes.
Canon & continuity
BBC Studios' linked creature or episode material supports the depicted future-human lineage and the Ancient One's agency. The bibliography identifies the actual writer and selected production. Claims made by characters and inferred histories are kept separate from events directly depicted; one official guide does not establish all versions of the organism.

Family, evolution & connections
Humanity in the possible future of The Curse of Fenric
The official guide describes Haemovores as a possible future evolved humanity from a polluted Earth, and distinguishes that origin from Vikings transformed after blood-draining attacks. It also says the Ancient One prevents that future by destroying Fenric. This is a conditional relationship within a time-travel narrative, not a scientific evolutionary prediction or an unbroken family tree.
