Overview

Classic Greymon is a large dinosaur-shaped Digimon with an orange striped body and a horned protective structure over its head. Fire breath and powerful claws make the transformation from Agumon's small form immediately dramatic. Its reference description also stresses intelligence, preventing the design from becoming only a mindless enlargement of a companion animal.

The 2010 anime has a separately designed Greymon that must not supply this form's anatomy or attribute. In the Adventure versions, Tai's partner retains identity across the transformation, while other products permit different histories and routes. The catalogue therefore treats the classic design as a distinct form without asserting one compulsory evolution tree or merging similarly named versions.

First appearances & development

This profile concerns the classic form, separately from Greymon's 2010 anime namesake. This entry follows the version represented by the primary works listed below, rather than treating the name as a single creature shared by every adaptation. Reference Book designs and television individuals are distinct; branching Digivolution routes vary by product and continuity.

Canon & continuity

The official Digimon Encyclopedia identifies this form and its design-level traits. Digimon Adventure (1999) and Digimon Adventure: (2020) supply separately identified television treatments. Reference profiles are not biographies of every animated individual; evolution routes, localized terminology and encounter mechanics must be checked against the selected product or continuity.

Tyrannosaurus rex

The retrieved official English profile describes Greymon as a Tyrannosaurus-type Dinosaur Digimon. That establishes a reference-level animal analogy, while the museum source identifies the actual fossil animal. Fire attacks and digital combat properties are not palaeontological traits. Exact profile wording and illustrated variants should be checked against the selected Digimon product rather than treated as universal biology.
