Overview

Grafted scions have silver hair, youthful faces and bodies assembled with numerous additional limbs, draped in green cloaks. They fight with ornamental straight swords and golden shields rather than behaving like ordinary spiders despite their many-legged silhouette. The sword text describes fallen descendants of the Golden Lineage seeking purpose in earlier glory. The shield's beast emblem is Serosh, the lineage's aged counsellor; that emblem is not evidence that a scion is Serosh's offspring. Grafting accounts explain added body parts without supplying an ordinary reproductive species history.

A scion confronts the player outside the Chapel of Anticipation at the opening of Elden Ring. Victory is optional, and defeat advances the opening sequence to the Stranded Graveyard instead of requiring a repeated boss attempt. The chapel can be revisited through a sending gate at the Four Belfries, using an Imbued Sword Key. Other scions occupy locations including Stormveil and Mount Gelmir, so the first encounter is not the entire population. Its sword-and-shield rewards belong to that particular chapel specimen; they should not be generalized from the initial challenge to every grafted enemy.

First appearances & development

The selected creature appears in Elden Ring in 2022. This is a monster type produced through grafting, not an ordinary named human character catalogued as a species. The optional opening encounter and later revisitation are kept within one profile rather than treated as separate beings for coverage counts.

Canon & continuity

The specialist creature body and separately displayed sword and shield descriptions were inspected. They establish appearance, lineage symbolism and the chapel's encounter structure. The official Future Press book is included only as publisher-confirmed reference scope; its creature chapter and any proposed complete genealogy were not accessed.
